The Monochrome Work
A distilled practice in black and white
Series note
The Monochrome Work is a sustained investigation into the expressive limits of black and white. Across alpine ridges, city corridors, solitary figures, and abstracted details, the series pursues a visual logic where the subtraction of colour is not a gesture of nostalgia but a deliberate act of reduction. Here, monochrome is a discipline: the fog-bound Dutch tree, the geometry of Liège-Guillemins, the silent witness of a Singer in Botswana, the brooding skyline of Rotterdam—each image is selected for the way tonal compression clarifies structure, silhouette, and atmosphere.
The sequence is not bound by subject or geography. Instead, it is unified by a sensibility: the search for what remains when colour is withheld. A giraffe and an alpine peak share the same grammar of edge and mass; a city pigeon and a solitary guard are neighbours in the same tonal field. The Monochrome Work is the most direct statement of visual intent—an ongoing series where the act of seeing in black and white is both method and result.
