A field in full bloom outside Noordwijkerhout in late April, at the day the colour reaches its limit. Dutch spring has no interest in understatement. This is an image made close to home, between the longer journeys — a different register but the same attention.

The moon rises over the Gran Sasso range while the valley below still holds the last warmth of evening. The image divides itself cleanly: a third of land, two thirds of sky grading toward black, and the moon at upper right — small, exact, undramatic. Distance becomes a form of quiet.

At dawn on Kalmthout heath, a single pine holds still as the light builds behind it. The mist is already lifting when the sun reaches this angle: low, horizontal, the entire available warmth of an April morning concentrated into one source. For a few minutes, the tree is unrecognisable as a tree.

The snow line on the Gran Sasso defines a boundary between two kinds of landscape: the working farmland of the Marche below and the indifferent rock above. In monochrome, the field patterns and the mountain face share the same tonal logic. Scale asserts itself without drama.

Eiger's Shadow: North Face in Cloud Veil

A single cow occupies the lower meadow, providing scale the mountain doesn't need but the image does. Cloud is pulling away from the Eiger's north face, and the darkness above feels earned. This is not a famous mountain made familiar — it is weight, geology, and weather seen from close enough to feel the cold.

Angkor Wat reflects in the still water of the outer moat before dawn has committed to colour. The symmetry is near-perfect but the reflection carries slightly more darkness than the building above it. At this hour the temple returns to what it has always been: stone and water and something that precedes both.
