Curated works

Portrait Photography

A portrait can be direct, guarded, playful, formal, or almost turned away. What matters to me is whether the picture holds a real meeting between the person and the camera. Sometimes that comes through eye contact, sometimes through a silhouette, and sometimes through what the sitter keeps back.

Collection Note

A quieter way into the portrait collection.

I try not to reduce anyone to a type, and I don't crowd the frame to make it more dramatic. The best portraits leave some things open. The works below are several ways in: a direct gaze, a face half hidden, strong tonal contrast, and quieter pictures that take longer to reveal themselves.
