A portrait built around colour: the specific amber of the hair, the particular shade of the eyes. These are the details a painter would choose. The photograph simply records what was there, and trusts the viewer to notice.
The face is almost fully present; the hair takes the rest. A portrait that considers what partial visibility does to a viewer — how much can be inferred from so little, and how that inference is never quite neutral.
